Nas Used His New York Restaurant to Feed Over 100 Government Workers Amidst Shutdown

We all know that Queens gets the money.

However, when it comes down to it, every borough in the state of New York has one thing in common: they look after each other. Rapper and angel investor Nas displayed this when he and business partner John Seymour opened the doors of their restaurant, Sweet Chick and urged all furloughed federal workers to get a meal on the house.

Famous for their chicken and waffles, Nas and Seymour own five Sweet Chick locations with four thriving in New York and one booming in West Hollywood California. All five places allowed federal workers to come in and eat free of charge with the flash of their government id.

The duo came up with this idea to give back to those impacted the most by the government shut down on, of all days, Martin Luther King Day. With an amazing example of selflessness to stand next to, the Sweet Chick’s Williamsburg, Brooklyn location saw at least 60 furloughed workers in one day which proved that this act of kindness was not only appreciated but needed. The other restaurant locations reportedly served about 40 people a day equaling up to hundreds of meals feeding those who work thankless jobs, this time without pay.

“Never to worry, all the wrong doers got it coming back to em
A thousand times over
Every dog has its day and everything flips around
Even the most greatest nation in the world has it coming back to em
Everyone reaps what they sew that’s how it goes
Innocent lives will be taken, it may get worse but we’ll get through it
You all be strong”
 – Nas, What Goes Around

Please keep in mind that although the government shutdown ended just days ago our country is still in danger of a shutdown repeat. While this 35 day shut down is recorded as the longest in history the government is only temporarily reopened for the next three weeks. If a border control agreement is not reached by the end of the three weeks specified, we may need more restaurants like Sweet Chick to step in and help their fellow American.
